Survey finds employees enjoy supported employment
AAT and OVA said their results “largely mirror” the findings of consultations run by the Department of Social Services five years ago on supported employment. Given this consistency, it’s important that supported employees are listened to when they give their thoughts on what meaningful work means to them.
Social Inclusion
We need heart in the conversation about social inclusion
Moving forward, we need to place the heart back into conversations about social inclusion. We need to reframe it around feelings of belonging and community connection, rather than pure physical integration. We need to distinguish between those with disabilities who freely decide to be together and those who do not.
NDIS
We already know how to fix the NDIS so let’s get on with it
If the goal of the Jobs and Skills Summit was to expand employment opportunities for disadvantaged Australians, addressing issues with the NDIS’ pricing model and structure should be fast-tracked. Otherwise, it’s almost inevitable other Australian Disability Enterprises will start shutting their doors…
